4 Basic Family Recipes That Will Leave You Delighted

We love food, plain and simple. Food is the core of our family gatherings; it is the three times or more per day that we all celebrate tastes and flavors and it is something we enjoy passing down through our families. So you know in advance, these recipes are not family secrets, they are just recipes that we got from our grandma, parents or some other family relative. They may honestly have been pulled from some long since popular cookbook! But the truth of the matter is all that matters is taste, and we love the flavors of these four recipes! So sit back, relax and let your stomach guide you. 

Family Recipe #1 Napa Salad 

This recipe joins us at almost all of our family gatherings and was passed to us by Molly's mom. Try it out if you want a fresh, summery flavor!

Ingredients for Salad:

- 2 Heads Napa Cabbage
- 2 Bunches Green Onion
- 2 Packages of Ramen Noodles
- 1 Cup Slivered Almonds
- 1/2 Stick Butter

Ingredients for Sauce:

- 1 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce 

Directions:

- Brown the noodles and almonds in butter in a saucepan and crunch the noodles into smaller pieces
- Mix everything except the sauce together
- Pour sauce over right before serving 

Family Recipe #2 Wildtree Shrimp Scampi Tacos

Ingredients: 

- 1 Cup Water
- 2 Teaspoons Wildtree Chicken Boullion Soup Base
- 2 Teaspoons Garlic Galore Seasoning Blend
- 1/2 Cup Rice
- 1/4 Cup Red Bell Pepper, Finely Diced
- 1/3 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1/2 Pound Shrimp, Peeled, and Deveined
- 1 Teaspoon Wildtree Natural Grapeseed Oil
- 2 Teaspoons Wildtree Scampi Blend
- 6 6 Inch Flour Tortillas
- 1 1/2 Shredded Lettuce

Directions:

- Bring 1 cup water to a boil in a saucepan, add bouillon, garlic, and rice. Lower heat to a simmer, cover and cook about 45 minutes or until rice is tender.
- Remove from heat. Fold in bell pepper and parmesan.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium to high heat. Add shrimp and sauté until cooked through about 3-4 minutes.
- To assemble tacos, layer rice with shrimp and shredded lettuce on each tortilla. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over each taco.

Family Recipe #3 Dump It On Peach Cobbler 

Many thanks to Molly's grandma for this recipe, it is amazingly delicious! 

Ingredients:

- 1/4 Butter (Stick)
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Can Peaches
- 1 Cup Self Rising Flour
- 1 Cup Milk 

Directions: 

- Melt butter in baking dish
- Mix sugar, flour, and milk
- Pour mixture over butter (don't mix)
- Pour fruit on top (don't mix)
- Bake at 350 Degrees for one hour
- Serve warm with ice cream 

Family Recipe #4 Sugar Cookies For Cutouts

The props for this recipe come from Collin's Great Grandma Wade. She has a good thing going with this recipe! 

Ingredients:

- 1 Cup Softened Butter
- 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 Egg Beaten
- 1 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla or Almond Flavoring Extract
- 2 1/2 Cup Flour
- 1/4 Tsp. Salt 

- Can omit salt and add 2 tsp. orange juice and use granulated sugar instead of powdered sugar

Directions: 

- Cream sugar and butter
- Add egg + flavoring/vanilla
- Add flour and salt
- Use lots of flour when rolling out and cutting
- Bake at 375 degrees for 6-10 minutes (No need to chill dough)
- We often make ahead and then chill until ready to bake. In that case get the dough out 30 minutes or so and let it warm up a bit before rolling out. 

A fun Christmas cookie twist! 

- To make these into candy canes, divide the dough in half. Blend 1/2-1 tsp. of red food coloring into one of the halves. Take small pieces of dough, roll into a long piece. Do same with an uncolored piece. Shape into candy cane shapes by twisting together!
